Zoom Tips
From experience, there are some best practices we have identified for using Zoom:
- Start the meeting from the application on your device, not from your browser. This is required so we can more easily go to our separate rooms.
- After joining the meeting, click on the chat icon so that you can ask questions and generally communicate in parallel with what is going on in the TV window. For example, you can alert the speaker that audio is a problem. Actually, we will have a "technical help" person that will see this message and try to help.
- We like to start with everyone having true video on as well as audio. No avatars and no video off. This is so we can meet you face to face each time and we can take attendance.
- When the presenter is hard at work, turn both video and audio off at your end. This will improve Zoom's performance for the presenter.
- Press your spacebar to unmute your microphone. Hold it down while speaking. -OR- Alt+A to mute/unmute your audio -OR- click on the sound icon on your picture within your attendee window.
